Being collocated with the Low Speed Wind Tunnel and providing test support in many facilities across the US gave us invaluable experience in wind tunnel operations. While providing new balances and calibrations of existing balances has been our primary supply, we have leveraged our wind tunnel experience to supply model support systems and data acquisition systems. We provide full design, software and control system development, fabrication, assembly, calibration and on-site installation to meet your testing requirements.
The Crescent Support System provides pitch and yaw angle variation for typical sting mounted models. The pitch and yaw centers of rotation are on the center line of the tunnel and do not translate; the pitch center does not move as the angle is changed. Any position combination of Pitch and Yaw is achievable at any time. The total pitch range of 45 deg (typically -15 to +30) is available; total yaw range is typically 70 deg (there is an option to increase range).
The Crescent Sting Support is designed to support the model weight and the aerodynamic loads generated by models with the least possible flow interference. The system is provided as a unit, allowing easy removal to accommodate other support systems in the test section or for maintenance. A rollhead can supplement the Crescent Sting Support, providing manual or controlled roll angle adjustment.
Our scalable, modular design is easily integrated into new or existing facilities with minimal impact. Systems have been deployed for test sections as large as 8 ft x 12 ft and as small as 8” x 8”.
Data Acquisition Systems
Our data acquisition systems can be delivered as rack mounted stand alone systems or implemented as individual component systems. The DAQ provides all necessary amplification, filtering and digital conversion for each channel. User can tailor scan rate, the number of samples to average as well as a number of other parameters. Each channel is individually amplified and filtered, then multiplexed into a 20-bit A/D converter. Outputs are in Engineering units of force and moment as well as raw millivolt signals.
